When you add a photo to iMovie it automatically adds the Ken Burns effect. When you add a still photo that is vertical, iMovie automatically crops it to fit the project's horizontal aspect ratio (so you only see about one third of the photo). We can fix this easily.
- Select all the photos that you want to un-Ken Burns.
- Click the Crop button in the upper right hand corner of one of the clips OR Hit ‘c’.
- Click the Fit button if all your photos are horizontal OR Click the new Allow Black button in the Viewer to include the entire photo (Now you will see black bars on the edges of the video).
- Click Done
- If you NEVER want to use Ken Buns by default change the default in Project Properties (Command -J)
